    If you decide to visit this city during vacation you should know that there best and fun things to do in Johnstown that will leave you in awe.

    Johnstown is a city in Cambria county, Pennsylvania, west-southwest of Altoona.  The city has been able to come up with beautiful sites worth visiting and found a way of telling its story too to generations. 

     I will be helping to list out amazing places to visit that will undoubtedly leave you amazed. 

     I won’t lie when I say this place is beautiful and deserves a visit.

    1. Heritage Discovery Center

    The museum is a perfect place to learn and know a lot more about the local history and culture of the city.

     The museum has a very beautiful concept in how they choose to tell their story. 

    The heritage discovery center is officially also known as the ‘Frank and Sylvia Pasquerilla Heritage Discovery Center. 

    This museum is different because of its unique way of telling history, it is an interactive Museum of displays about people who immigrated to Johnstown.

    A beautiful sight to behold indeed. 

    The heritage discovery center is perfect for those who enjoy digging deep into a city’s history.

    2. Greenhouse Park

    Greenhouse Park

    The park is located along the Stoney Creek river between Johnstown and Tire Hill. Make sure you get to see this when you visit Johnstown’s next stop.

     It is a perfect place to appreciate Johnstown weather. You can enjoy the privileges of being outdoors. 

    It’s a splendid and also a beautiful place to go swimming. 

    Family time is perfect here too. 

    The children can be occupied with playing at the small playground while you and your husband have a nice lunch at the pavilion. 

    Over the beautiful river! Get your swimsuits welcoming because you will regret not coming with them if you do not. 

    3. Johnstown Flood Museum

    Johnstown Flood Museum

     The city found a way to recover from the tragedy that surfaced.

     This museum displays its story beautifully of the great tragedy, but also of triumphant recovery.

     To us you are sure won’t waste your time out at this museum. You get to see the Academy Award-winning documentary film too. 

     It was built in the ’90s.  It is a visit, trust me.

    4. Grandview Cemetery

    Grandview Cemetery

    Whoever thought having a visit to a cemetery could give thrills too. 

    The Grandview cemetery was founded in 1885. It was actually created to accommodate the city’s rapidly growing population. 

     It is a final resting place to pass politicians and war heroes as it is today’s honored men and women who died as victims of the Johnstown flood in 1889.

    Today, the cemetery is recognized as one of the largest in Pennsylvania.

     It contains 47 barrel sections and more than 235 acres (0.95 km²).

    5. B&L Wine Cellars

    B&L Wine Cellars

    Have you ever heard ‘Local wine pairs well with great friends?  Yeah, that’s right! B&L was Established in 2012.

     A family-owned winery business located in the Cambria section in Johnston. 

    It is made out of Pennsylvania grapes and some fruits from other areas. 

    If you did not want to drink before please do not miss out on the amazing taste of this wine. 

    Be sure to meet a friendly atmosphere and an excellent wine bar with a charming tasting room. Remember to drink responsibly though.

    6. Stackhouse Park

    Stackhouse Park

    This park has over 7 miles of hiking trails. 

    It can also be substituted for camping use and picnics too. 

    Visiting this park is one thing you will not regret. 

    7. Peoples Natural Gas Park

    Peoples Natural Gas Park

    This multipurpose park is another fun place to be. It was originally established in 2012. 

    It is actually operated by the Johnston Heritage Association.

     It is fun to just cool off and ease out after a long day.

    8. Luray Park

    Luray Park

    Luray Park is one of the best places for visitors to have recreational activities.

     The floor is made of wood chips with a rock climbing wall.  

    Different from what you will see in many other places.

    9. Coal Tubin’ Pennsylvania

    Coal Tubin’ Pennsylvania

    Coal Tubin’ Pennsylvania is perfect for hikers.

    It offers hiking tours of the wilderness area as well as equipment for rental.  

    10. Cambria County War Memorial Arena

    Cambria County War Memorial Arena

    It is the Home of the Johnstown Tomahawks. 

    Cambria County War Memorial Arena has eight concession stands that serve drinks and snacks. 

    It is also a hockey arena.

    11. Zips Classic Lanes

    They have food and drink options, manual scoring as well as shoe rentals.

    It provides duckpin bowling on 16 lanes with traditional bowling on the remaining lanes. 

    12. Westmont Lanes

    Westmont Lanes

    Westmont Lanes provides extra amenities. These features are different from its bowling features like bumper bowling and part options too. 

    13. Wagner-Ritter House & Garden

    Wagner-Ritter House & Garden

    This is undoubtedly another place to be. 

    The historical building of The Wagner-Ritter House & Garden tells the story of an early 19th-century working-class family. 

    People are allowed to take strolls around the house and garden learning a thing or two. 

    14. Coal Tubin’

    Coal Tubin’

    Coal Tubin has from inflatable kayaking to whitewater rafting.  

    Through the waters of Stony Canyon, the canyon has 7 miles of river with class I and class II rapids to explore.

     You will believe me when I say it is a must-see!

    15. Southern Alleghenies Museum Of Art At Johnstown

    Southern Alleghenies Museum Of Art At Johnstown

    The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art At Johnstown is an art museum established in 1976.

    It is dedicated to providing a cultural resource to the local rural population. 

    Over 4,000 artistic pieces are featured in this fascinating museum.

    16. Silver Drive-In

    Silver Drive-In

    This is a must-attend theater. 

    It gives attendees this vibe of watching old-fashioned movies. It offers a concession stand for its visitors.

     A perfect place for a date night.

    17. Richland Cinemas 

    Richland Cinemas

    Alright, another fun place to check out indeed.

    It is a 10-theater cinema multiplex, Richland Cinemas 10 shows first-run movies. 

    Every digital video and sound you look for can be found here. 

    There is also stadium seating. 

    18. Daisytown Sportsmen Club

    Daisytown Sportsmen Club

    The Daisy town Sportsmen Club has been in operation since 1955.

     It has grown to include two regulation trap and .22 silhouette ranges, an indoor range, and an outdoor rifle, pistol, and muzzleloader range. The club also hosts league shoots. 

    It is no doubt fun for those who are part of it. Can not be a bad idea for you if you want to join in.

    19. Richland Lanes

    One of my favorite things about this place is its snack bar.

     It is a full pizza restaurant. It is a bowling alley that offers free bumpers with 40 lanes including cosmic bowling, league play, and a pro shop. 

    20. Portage Station Museum

    Portage Station Museum

    The museum is fascinating in the display of its ecology and geography.

     It also features reflecting the history of coal mining as well as the railroads. 

    21. Allegheny Trail Alliance

    Allegheny Trail Alliance

    A group of seven trail organizations from all over the surrounding region. 

    The Allegheny Trail Alliance is devoted to maintaining the Great Allegheny Passage.

    Which is a 150-mile system of trails.

    22. Fort Ligonier

    When you visit, explore the museum galleries and the impressive Fort Ligonier.

    A full-scale, on-site restoration/reconstruction of 1758 – 1766 original will get you traveling back in time. 

    Situated on a commanding hilltop in the Laurel Highlands.

    The 18th-century fort contains historical exhibits and activities.

    23. Fort Ligonier: The Museum

    Fort Ligonier: The Museum is an epicenter of the nation’s early history. 

    Gives a clearer picture for tourists to grasp what the history of the city is all about.

    Exhibits include George Washington’s early military career, The Forbes Trail, and even the history of Fort Ligonier itself from its creation in 1758.

    24. Ligonier Lanes

    Ligonier Lanes

    This happens to be the community’s all-time favorite.

    One fascinating aspect of it is the fact that it is open 7 days a week.

    Buffalo chicken dip, spinach artichoke, and other delicious snacks are made available too for savoring. 

    25. Ligonier Country Market

    Ligonier Country Market

    Ligonier Country Market is a farmers’ market that has been open since 1976 featuring an average of 130 vendors per week. 

    The market has varieties from baked and prepared foods to beef, poultry, and eggs as well as handmade items.

    26. Southern Alleghenies Museum Of Art At Ligonier Valley

    Southern Alleghenies Museum Of Art At Ligonier Valley

    Founded in 1976, the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art At Ligonier Valley is a community museum. 

    It has been open since the same time as the Ligonier country market; in 1976.

    The museum boasts over 4,000 works from local artists to international artists alike.

    27. Somerset Historical Center

    Somerset Historical Center

    Somerset Historical Center is a 150-acre rural history museum. 

    The museum features buildings, agricultural displays, artifacts, and documents.

    It serves to preserve the history of the area’s rural Pennsylvania lifestyle.

    28. Palace Gardens Drive-In Theater

    Palace Gardens Drive-In Theater

    An old-fashioned drive-in movie theater, Palace Gardens Drive-In Theater offers a classic, nostalgic drive-in experience.

    The theater features window speakers and a concession stand and has a playground for kids to use before the movie.

    29. Lincoln Highway Experience

    It is located on the United States’ first coast-to-coast highway. 

    It is a good thing that the Lincoln Highway Experience provides guests with an educational as well as a historical experience. 

    Visitors are led on a guided tour, seeing the attractions and historic roadside architecture on the way.

    30. The White Township Recreation Complex

    The White Township Recreation Complex contains four full-size baseball fields, two soccer fields, a playground, trails, tennis courts, two basketball courts, a picnic area, and more.

    The S&T Bank Arena includes an ice skating rink and room for indoor events.

    Totally something I will not leave out on. For me, I called it ‘networking’  you might not conclude on settling here. 

    But surely there are one or two people you found amazing. Keep them and check up on them from time to time.

    A good number of places to check out listed above deal with hiking trails. 

    It would be wrong for you to not get to try out. 

    Even if it’s just the basics you guys home with. 

    As well as ice skating, you can choose to learn one or better still, go home with the knowledge of the two.
