You won’t believe it if I told you. The maintenance of the bridge is without any local state or federal funding.
This new bridge was replaced in 2012 and started falling apart in 2008. Has drawn tourists from all over the place.

3. Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways Historic Park and Museum
This Museum’s main aim is to make sure the history of the United States is kept secure and passed down to generations.
It is owned by The Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways Foundation.
The museum’s galleries always have so many displays to tell the stories.

4. Chesapeake Park
So many major outdoor events, like the Chesapeake Park Whisper Concert Series and the Chesapeake Jubilee are hosted here.
No wonder it is called the Premiere Place of Entertainment.
Do not be disappointed at the end about the programs you don’t want to miss out on. Call to find out and know their schedules so you won’t be left out.
Other features like basketball courts, volleyball, horseshoe pits, dog parks, and all.
5. Chesapeake Planetarium
It was established by a public school.
Featuring so many programs on Thursday nights to let you know more about the solar system, galaxies, and outer space as a whole.
Explore the wonders of the universe at Chesapeake Planetarium.
It is said to be the first and oldest planetarium in the entire state of Virginia.
They host these programs for free. It will be nice to check it out. You might be lucky to use the Telescope.
6. Hickory Ridge Farm
Hickory Ridge Farm is a family-owned business. That produces fresh fruits and vegetables.
If you are lucky to visit in spring or summer. Or during the farm’s seasonal period, You can articulate in the farm work.
How amazing. They also produce honey and have a petting zoo where you can play and feed the farm animals.
This is one eventful thing to do in Virginia as a whole.

7. Rodgers’ Puddings
The Famous Rodgers’ Puddings is known for its amazing banana puddings.
They have won numerous awards for how good the puddings are.
Especially if you are sweet-toothed you should not miss out on having a taste of this.
There are other delicious dishes served here. You can try it out. The pudding is just one I feel you should try out.
8. Chesapeake 9/11 Memorial
For those who lost their lives on 9/11, this city park was dedicated to honoring them. And keep in mind what a hard day it was in New York.
The remembrance ceremony is held every year on the 11th.
It’s something you can participate in to pay your respect. If you happen to be in town.
9. Great Bridge Lock Park
There are trails, boat ramps, and great picnic spots all for your pleasure and excitement.
Engaging in either will give you premium fun. It is welcomed by the whole family.
Everybody has a thing or two to benefit from this park.
Fishing is one other fun thing you will see so many people involved in. Who knows you may go home with a good catch too.
10. Black Pelican Seafood Co. Greenbrier, Chesapeake, Virginia
There are good tasty meals offered here. Such as pizza, pork ribs, and Band Brussels sprouts.
Their customer service is top notch and they are open every day of the week. Since 1993, they have been serving good seafood.
It’s one place you won’t regret trying out.
11. Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel
The view of the Atlantic Ocean from here is wowing. So many tourists love to visit here at least once before they leave the city.
That’s to tell you, they get something nice from here. It might be the feeling or the strategic views of bird species and fishes.
You will love it here for quiet time. That’s for sure.
12. The Great Dismal Swamp and Canal trail
The Great Dismal Swamp and Canal trail are known as the National Wildlife Refuge.
However outdoor parks have stood the test of time. And over the years it has been known for keeping people refreshed and relaxed all through their stay.
Activities like running, hiking, coatings, and even bicycling are done here.
But my favorite thing about this place is finding a nice spot for a picnic.
13. Gum Tree Farm
Although most people know this area for rearing sheep.
There is news now that you can also find poultry birds here like turkeys, ducks, and many more. As well as the farm animals like horses, goats, pigs and so on.
A visit to this farm will keep you enlightened about fiber production, wool, and many others.
14. Northwest River Park
It’s so big that it accommodates so many people all at once.
This is a perfect place to finally see the species of plants and even animals of Virginia.
Stroking doesn’t the trail to catch up on old times with a friend is perfect and eventful too.

15. Lake Drummond
Lake Drummond is a historical lake. It is over 4,000 years old.
This lake is perfect for water games like fishing, kayaking, and boating and the likeliest serves as the main source of water supply to the Dismal Swamp Canal.
If you want to be peaceful and calm. You can enjoy the beautiful birds chirping over you and appreciate nature as a cool breeze hits your face.
16. Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex
The name of this place alone defines fun.
For a start, it’s confusing to me too as a writer to decide on which activity to talk about and which to leave out.
Everything here screams fun. There are even Two National Hockey League skating rinks.
It’s big enough to accommodate so many people all at once. You can come as rusty as ever in Ice Hockey or skating.
And, end up doing well before your vacation is over.
This is one fun thing to engage in Chesapeake.
17. Cutlass Grille
Have you been looking for where you can get those homemade American Barbeque dishes? I just gave you a reason to smile now.
The Cutlass Grille in Chesapeake, Virginia will make you feel at home.
It is sure to take you back to those younger days when you sat waiting for your mum’s meal in the kitchen.
Might not taste exactly like your mum’s recipe but it’s the closest you will find to home. If you happen to be Jamaican most especially.
They are open from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
18. Greenbrier Mall
This mall attracts people from the neighboring communities too. Not just the city of Chesapeake.
So many sections here. From the cinema to the restaurants, and many more.
The shopping mall is all you need for your shopping spree. Do well to add it to your bucket list.
19. Elizabeth River Park
You might feel bad when you remember later on that you paid a visit here and didn’t take nice pictures for memories.
Most times what is the most fun isn’t the most engaging in activities.
It might just be a simple walk around Elizabeth River Park. The view from the river gives that magnificent sight.
You leave feeling refreshed. There is also a fitness center there too to stretch out.

20. Wicker’s Crab Pot Seafood, Chesapeake, Virginia
They have stood the test of time. Forbiber 60 years, Wicker’s Crab Pot Seafood has been in operation.
Serving mouthwatering seafood. Cooked fresh and locally to perfection. Crabs, oysters, shrimp, and many more.
Apart from the relaxing environment and cool music the restaurants give to eat. There is also a seafood market where you can get to cook by yourself at home.
21. Fun Forest
It’s not a forest as the name implies, so don’t get scared.
As aspens to be a children’s playground. Kids find it real here. Enough adventure for the kids to engage in.

22. Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant
One Mexican restaurant to enjoy good, tasty Mexican dishes.
With very friendly prices. That means with a small amount of money you can treat yourself to delicious meals.

Today they have been able to open and maintain branches in over 13 cities. Because of how well customers trust their food and services.
23. The Egg Bistro
There are other food spots to eat in Chesapeake but this restaurant is different.
You are sure to get fresh, healthy dishes. The ingredients are locally sourced. What could be better than, good food the menu was gulped down with nice bar beers.
Customers use this space to host special events like birthdays, corporate meetings, and the like.
The good and friendly staff too will give you a reason to keep coming back.
